My friendship with my best friend, Coco, is unlike many others. We met when we were only ten months old. We shared just the first ten years of our lives physically together; the rest have been long-distance—and by long-distance, I mean truly long, spanning across the world. She was in the UK while I was in China. Our life paths have been unpredictable and haven't crossed since I moved from Guangzhou to Beijing at the age of ten. Yet here we are, twenty-four years later, still best friends, even though we've gone on to study completely different fields—she studies chemistry, while I work in art.
This installation is a metaphor for the friendship I share with Coco. On the surface, you see the softness of our bond, but if you look closer, you'll find the unpredictability and chaos woven within.

The interaction takes two.
