this is a blog for testing the KiCad tutorial that steven litt made for electronic product design for music and audio class at steinhardt.

KiCad beta test

W1

1.3 The tutorial wasn’t clear on how to connect two components. I first tried clicking and dragging from the push button to the resistor, which didn’t work. I eventually realized you just click one end, then click the other.

Suggestion:
to avoid missing instruction on mouse actions, consider adding on-screen keystroke/click display (like Keycastr) will help.

1.7Question: How do you move the rectangle?

1.8For switching the two pins, there’s an easier way to just mirror Y in the Symbol sidebar. Or just hit “X” for shortcut.

1.10when i control select the mounting hole it doesn’t show the two options that are showed on the video.

plus i don’t have the baseline nor i can snap the mounting hole to the corner of the pcb. (update: i figured out that i have to select edge.cut first)

2.2I think for adding the library, you don’t have to click the plus sign, just hit the folder icon and import the library.
2.7I don’t know why nothing happened when I click the global label properties.

update: close the schematic editor and reopen it should fix this.
